Caroline Simpson, Ph.D.

EXTERNAL ADVISORY BOARD MEMBER

Dr. Caroline Simpson, FIU's Associate Director in the Office to Advance Women, Equity, & Diversity from 2020-2023, also served as the Faculty Equity Advisor in the College of Arts, Sciences, & Education (2018-2023). In these roles, she ensured faculty search committees follow best practices for equitable applicant assessment. Joining FIU in 1995 as an Assistant Professor in Physics after earning her Ph.D. in Astronomy from the University of Florida, Dr. Simpson specializes in star formation in dwarf galaxies. From 2007-2015, she served on the Committee on the Status of Women in Astronomy for the American Astronomical Society.
