Mentorship for Faculty and Staff at FSU

See FSU's Office of Faculty Development and Advancement and college- and department-level webpages for more detail.

The National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) also offers on-demand resources. FSU faculty and staff have free access.

ADVANCE Mentorship Networks

One of the aims of FSU ADVANCE is to connect women STEM faculty to internal and external mentoring networks to develop sustainable and diverse faculty communities. The FSU ADVANCE Mentorship Cohort program connects FSU STEM women faculty with faculty mentors who understand their specializations closely and are best positioned to support and advocate for them. In tandem with systemic policy change efforts facilitated by FSU ADVANCE, these communities will promote faculty members’ sense of belonging and enhance their retention and promotion.

Mentorship Cohort Program Mentee-Mentor Matching

The FSU ADVANCE program will recruit and support cohorts of women assistant and associate professors and specialized faculty during Spring and Summer semesters. Each faculty member will be matched with an internal FSU STEM faculty member who will serve as their mentor. We will use mentor/mentee screening surveys to guide mentor/mentee matches, focused on areas of specialization, identity, and goals. The internal mentors will be drawn from a pool of senior faculty at FSU, including men and those participating in these networks to facilitate diverse cross campus connections. Faculty mentees will nominate an external mentor - a scholar of any gender. This mentoring aims to position women for successful research-associated promotion and advancement, including leadership in their programs, departments, and colleges, to sustain change.
