ADVANCE Mentorship
One of the aims of FSU ADVANCE is to connect women STEM faculty to internal and external mentoring networks and inclusive, interdisciplinary, and engaged faculty communities. We connect STEM women faculty with mentors who understand their specializations closely and can extend their scholarly connections towards enhanced field impact. These communities have the potential to promote faculty members’ sense of belonging and enhance their retention and promotion, and will inform efforts to bring professional development efforts to scale.
The FSU ADVANCE program recruited a cohort of women assistant and associate professors and specialized faculty, and has been piloting professional development workshops focused on tenure and promotion narrative writing, public scholarship, writing accountability and structure, grant writing, and effective teaching. This mentoring aims to position faculty for successful promotion and advancement, including leadership in their programs, departments, centers/institutes, and colleges.
